My name Is Erike Wulandari. I am currently an English teacher at SMKN 1 Dua Koto, specializing in vocational education. I primarily teach English to students in the Grade 10, 11 & 12. My focus is on developing students' skills in reading, listening, speaking, and writing, ensuring they are well-prepared for both academic and professional settings.
I earned my degree in English Education from STKIP YDB Lubuk Alung, where my research interests centered on Using Authentic Material. My academic background has equipped me with a robust understanding of effective pedagogical strategies and their practical applications in vocational contexts at English for Specific Purpose.
A background in English Language Teacher Training, I am passionate about creating engaging and inclusive learning environments. I am also interested in fostering students’ social-emotional skills, as I believe these are crucial for their personal and professional growth. I have experience working with diverse student needs, including those with special educational needs, and I am committed to supporting each student to reach their full potential or relevant for my students' future careers. For instance, I integrate principles from Understanding by Design (UbD) to ensure that instructional objectives align closely with desired learning outcomes. Other that, I am particularly interested in exploring how language instruction can be tailored to vocational students, equipping them with both academic and industry-relevant communication skills.
Outside the classroom, I am also involved in writing, motivating, teacher training, or extracurricular activities, which helps me stay updated on the latest teaching methodologies and trends. These initiatives align with my broader interest in fostering 21st-century skills, including critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration.
On a personal note, I enjoy exploring new teaching strategies, reading about educational management, and occasionally writing articles on best practices in vocational education in English teaching. When I am not working, I like to read novels, listen music, watch media social, or spend time in nature.
I am thrilled to be part of a learning community, collaborating with colleagues and students where I can grow professionally to foster a positive, productive learning community and contribute to shaping students' bright futures. I look forward to building meaningful connections with colleagues and students alike.
